Pet of the Month - April 2010 - Logan Bassett
Logan is a typical Labrador Retriever with an appetite for just about anything
Like most Labrador Retrievers, Logan had a big appetite. In early April this six month old pup had tucked into a packet of baby wipes - much to his owners dismay.
With some intermittent diarrhoea, the baby wipes seemd to pass through and Logan seemed well in himself, his appetite unaffected.
However, a few days later (over the Easter weekend) Logan began to vomit and the diarrhoea returned.
An exploratory laparotomy was performed when the vomiting continued despite treatment. Logan's appetite for just about anything became apparent! A balloon, some bones and several pieces of plastic were surgically removed from Logan's stomach where they had been causing an obstruction.
Fortunately, Logan has made a good recovery. All the staff at Summerhill are delighted to see Logan back to his usual happy self, and his owners are trying to keep him away from the baby wipes!
