Puppy Parties Starting on March 7th

Socialisation is an important part of a puppy's development. We hold the classes in the surgery to ensure that the puppies become familiar with staff, sights and smells of the veterinary environment. This can prove very useful when a puppy has to return to the surgery for treatment.

Puppies attend the classes any time from 8 weeks of age and can attend for four weeks. The puppy must have received his/her first vaccination before starting the course and be in full health. All floors will be thoroughly disinfected prior to the start of the class.

Each owner will receive a socialisation pack at the start of the course which contains plenty of tips including a checklist of new experiences we recommend all puppies encounter during this crucial stage of life.

The classes are held on a Monday evening between 6 and 7pm and are supervised by our head nurse Sarah and receptionist Claire. The puppies have 'free play' for most of the session, allowing them to interact with each other and explore the waiting room and consulting area. We can also take the opportunity to use the scales and record bodyweight which is useful to chart progress and for accurate dosing of worm and flea treatment.

Each week a different health or behavioural topic is discussed and owners are encouraged to ask any questions that they may have.

We recommend continuing all puppies' education after the completion of the socialisation course and can point owners in the right direction by providing contact details of local dog training courses suitable for older puppies.

Please call or email us to book your place, we look forward to seeing you.
