Reducing your pet's stress visiting the vets

We always spend time acclimatising new pets so that they feel comfortable visiting our surgery

Taking time to make the experience less stressful is better for us, for you and for your pet.  It saves you hunting high and low for your pet when you next get the carrier out to visit us!

Try to get your pet used to being carried in a sturdy carrier and travelling in the car so that it does not associate travelling with a visit to the vet.  If your pet is anxious in our waiting room then let our receptionist know next time you book an appointment and we may be able to fit you in at a quieter time of day.

Please don’t forget to ask us if you are unsure how to give your pet its medication, whether its ear drops or tablets.  Your pet will be happier receiving its treatment if you are confident administering it.  It will feel more relaxed and find future surgery visits less of an ordeal.

Should your pet need to stay at our surgery we welcome a small item that reminds it of home, a toy or small blanket perhaps.

Remember after surgery your pet will need peace and quiet so try to keep it separate from other pets and small children to aid a speedy recovery.

Happy pets, happy families!
